FAQ
ARE ALL OF YOUR PRODUCTS USED?
Yes, we are a a licensed Japanese antique dealer and everything we sell is used. Our inventory currently dates from the 19th Century through the 1990s.
WHAT CONDITION ARE THE ITEMS IN?
We only sell items we have determined to be in good condition, but these are historic pieces and often do show signs of normal wear, tear and discoloration. We describe the quality of each item.
ARE YOUR BOOKS AND WOODBLOCK PRINTS ALL FIRST PRINTINGS?
No, but many are. We indicate if books are a later publication or if woodblocks are a reprint. But nevertheless, they are still historic items. For instance, many of our woodblock prints are reprints of 18th or 19th Century work, using the original engravings, from the Taisho Era (1912-1926). And some of our books are mid-20th Century collections of art from earlier times.
CAN I RETURN A PURCHASED ITEM?
We allow returns made within a 30 day window. If the product comes back in the same condition it was sent, we will provide a full refund. We are not responsible for the return shipping costs.
HOW LONG TILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER?
That depends on whether the product is one we have on hand or an item we have listed. If on hand, orders should arrive within 10 days. If it is a listed item, usually the orders will arrive within two weeks but sometimes up to three. We provide tracking numbers once we have sent the item.
I REALLY WANT A MAP OF EDO ERA NAGOYA, BUT I DON'T SEE IT ON THE SITE.
If there is a specific item or kind of item you are looking for, please email us at info@oldjapan.jp and we will see if we can locate it!
WHY DO SOME ITEMS HAVE BETTER / MORE PICTURES THAN OTHERS?
The majority of our items we have on-hand and we take our own high-quality pictures and scans. But certain items we list with permission from small shops and dealers here. In those cases, we must rely on the images they can provide us, which vary in quality.
